Community Woodland Event

The Community Woodlands Association are joining forces with Alva Glen Heritage Trust, the Woodland Orchestra and Brotus Rural Crafts to provide a day of traditional craft and music in Alva Glen.

The activities will begin at 11am on Saturday and we would love for you to come along and have a go on a  traditional pole lathe, bang some drums or tinkle on the wooden xylophone!  Members of Alva Glen Heritage Trust will be on hand to provide information about one of Scotland’s finest industrial glens.

We will be joined by members from community groups throughout Stirling, Clackmannanshire, Fife and Falkirk, as well as visiting groups from the Highlands, we hope that the day will provide a network of active and enthusiastic volunteers who can share skills, knowledge and experience openly, in a relaxed and fun environment.

During the day, children from two local schools (Menstrie Primary & Alva Primary) will be taking centre stage with a performance of the Wych-Elm project, as well as a demonstration of the skills gained during the project.  There will be a BBQ and refreshments available throughout the afternoon, and parking can be found near to the glen entrance.  The event will close at 3pm, please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

We hope that you are able to join us, and that you spread the word of this wonderful (and noisy) event – the more people coming along on the day, the merrier!
