Alva Glen Heritage Trust

The People

The Alva Glen Heritage Trust is solely reliant on the dedicated band of volunteers who attend the monthly workdays on the 1st Sunday of each month between 11am and 1pm, meeting in the glen car park. The activities are varied ranging from cutting back excessive growth of the various plants, bushes and trees. Removal of non-native species such as rhododendron and laurel thereby improving the amount of light reaching the glen floor to encourage more native plants to flourish. Planting native species of flora and fauna to encourage butterflies and other insects. Litter picking, cleaning the pond at the old quarry. Clearing the paths and steps of leaves particularly in the autumn making the glen safer and clear for the public who love walking in the glen.
